The Austin Downtown Founder Lions Club (ADFLC) was presented with the RecognizeGood Lighthouse Award during the club’s regularly-scheduled weekly meeting on March 12th. ADFLC is the oldest continuously-operating Lions Club in the WORLD, proving through almost 100 years their dedication to the service of humanity through the spirit of Lionism and its many community outreach programs. “Founder Club” is a term of recognition bestowed by Lions International on those clubs that were represented at the formation of the international organization at its first convention in 1917. Matt Ache, president of iRex Group, Ltd. (whose “2 Groups, 1 Family” program sponsors the award) presented chapter president Lilly Gilligan with an award plaque, along with a donation to PET-Austin in the club’s name. A big THANK YOU from all of us at RecognizeGood and iRex goes out to the Austin Downtown Founder Lions Club for its incredible longevity in service to the Greater Austin community.
The RecognizeGood Lighthouse Award recognizes the selfless community efforts and philanthropy of Austin-area service clubs through length, magnitude or impact of service – by highlighting “special” organizations and telling their stories, we believe that others will be inspired to make our community a better place.
