Child Advocacy Group Honored with our 14th Lighthouse Award

Biker’s Against Child Abuse (BACA) Austin has been announced as the latest honoree for the RecognizeGood Lighthouse Award! BACA Austin is an organization made up of community members from all walks of life, from accountants to mechanics, that all have a passion for two things – bikes and advocating for abused children. Incorporated in 2001, BACA Austin has worked tirelessly in conjunction with local and state officials as well as the Center for Child Protection, Roxanne’s House and many other child advocacy organizations to help in empowering and ensuring the well-being of child abuse victims. While BACA has contributed in many ways, their ‘mock court’ program – a program designed to familiarize children with the courthouse and eliminate fear of testifying to ensure their story is heard – stood out as a powerful tool for advocacy groups.

Chapter president “Pitstop” accepted the award on behalf of his group in a special presentation at the Mueller H-E-B on December 1st. Andrew Cooper, partner at award sponsor iRex Group, presented the chapter  with an award plaque and two tickets to the 2017 Ethics in Business & Community Award luncheon, along with a donation to PET-Austin in the chapter’s name to pay their contribution forward. A PET (Personal Energy Transportation) vehicle was also been donated in the chapter’s name. This recognition represented a sincere “Thank you!” from the Central Texas community for an amazing display of selfless service from the Biker’s Against Child Abuse Austin Chapter.

The RecognizeGood Lighthouse Award recognizes the selfless community efforts and philanthropy of Austin-area service clubs through length, magnitude or impact of service – by highlighting “special” organizations and telling their stories, we believe that others will be inspired to make our community a better place. Award nominees may be sent to recognize@recognizegood.org, and are voted on by a selection committee according to the following criteria:

  1. Length of Service
  2. Magnitude of Service
  3. Special One-Time Event
