85th RecognizeGood Legend Elizabeth Williams Honored for 30+ Years of Service

RecognizeGood honored Elizabeth Williams with the 85th RecognizeGood Legend award in a presentation in Austin on Friday, August 2nd. During the event, RecognizeGood made a $1,000 pay-it-forward donation to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Texas in Elizabeth’s name.

As many volunteers for RMHC CTX tend to be, Elizabeth was first a client. Her daughter was hospitalized in the Dallas area and Elizabeth and her family, including her mother Mary Pendleton, stayed at RMHC Dallas while dealing with the medical crisis. After the family returned to Austin, Elizabeth wanted to give back and began donating her time in several capacities – serving as a board member (including as president), helping with special events, volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House itself, and most recently supporting the families who visit the Ronald McDonald Family Rooms that are located inside the hospitals. The Family Rooms offer a place for families to rest and regroup right at the hospital, while being moments away from their sick child.

“At the Ronald McDonald Family Rooms, we rely on our volunteers to help families who need a quiet place to rest and regroup while their children are healing in the hospital,” says Paula Duke, hospital programs manager. “Elizabeth has been very involved at RMHC CTX and we are so appreciative of all her efforts to make our families comfortable. Our families not only appreciate her help but also the smile she always has on her face.”

As a 2019 Legend, Elizabeth is now eligible to participate in RecognizeGood’s Say Thanks Austin campaign, an annual event which presents Central Texas with a unique opportunity to say “thank you” to a group of remarkable individuals who contribute their time and talents to our community. The participant with the most Thank You votes receives a pay-it-forward donation of $10,000 to the nonprofit of their choice.
