April 2013 Legend: Erin Kiltz
It was a word, an idea, and most of all an inspiration in everyone’s hearts and minds yesterday at our April 2013 Legend ceremony, held in the historic Rock Room at the beautiful Westwood Country Club here in Austin. Past Legends, presenter Luci Baines Johnson, nominators and distinguished guests were all genuinely touched and inspired by the presentation, honoring Erin Kiltz of Georgetown for her work with Brookwood Community in Georgetown (BiG), formerly Light Texas. Erin’s story was a true testament to the contagious nature of goodwill, dedication, and sincere service. Erin, inspired by her daughter Gracie, made it her mission to bring meaning and purpose to intellectually disabled adults who had “aged out” of the public school system. Today, the incredible citizens of BiG have planted thousands of sunflowers, handmade countless pieces of jewelry, stationary, and pottery, and their BiG Shop has taken in over $60,000. In turn, Erin and her BiG citizens are inspiring everyone who hears their story!
