March 2014 Legend: Allison Baker

RecognizeGood is pleased to announce our first Legend award winner of 2014 … Allison Baker!

Allison is equal parts motivator and go-getter, and both her savvy volunteer coordination and sheer personal effort have contributed to a huge impact on Austin’s underprivileged and homeless.  Not only has she recruited and motivated over 700 Austin High and St. Andrew’s High athletes and leadership students to volunteer with Boys & Girls Clubs of Austin events, but along with the team at her own nonprofit organization Cattlemen Care has donated over 92,000 meals.  You read that right!

All donated meals donated are known as “Goode Meals“, and are donated in memory of friend and volunteer Jamie Goode.  If all of the hamburgers included with each Goode Meal were laid end-to-end, they would stretch over more than 100 football fields!  Over half of those meals have fed the kids at Boys & Girls Clubs of Austin, but other organizations benefiting from Allison’s generosity and tenacity include The Settlement Home for ChildrenCaritas of AustinHelping Hand Home for ChildrenTrinity Center AustinAustin Children’s ShelterAustin Resource Center for the Homeless (ARCH)Angel HouseCasa Marianella andPosada Esperanza, plus the incredible efforts of fellow Legend award winner Lola Stephens-Bell. Take a moment to check out Allison’s original nomination, plus details on the upcoming award ceremony – where Allison will present a $1,000.00 pay-it-forward donation to Boys & Girls Clubs of Austin.
