RecognizeGood is proud to honor SCORE Austin with our 19th RecognizeGood Lighthouse Award!
SCORE Austin has supported the greater Austin community for the last 43 years, working to foster small business communities through education and mentoring efforts. SCORE works alongside other organizations that support small business owners, including the US Small Business Administration, Chambers and public libraries, providing educational workshops and classes to help small businesses start, grow and succeed. The organization’s 70 members consist of active and retired business executives who share their experiences through mentoring sessions and workshops. SCORE’s educational workshops include topics such as business plan writing, financial planning, as well as QuickBooks instructional courses. As a community nonprofit, the organization raised $18,000 in 2017 to support the necessities of running their chapter, including rent, workshops and social media staff. With the presentation of this award, RecognizeGood gives SCORE Austin a heartfelt THANK YOU on behalf of the entire community.
Joel Coffman, executive director at RecognizeGood, presented the organization with several thank-you gifts – a $250 donation, an award plaque, two tickets to the 2018 Ethics in Business & Community Award luncheon, and a pay-it-forward donation to Mobility Worldwide in the club’s name. A PET (Personal Energy Transportation) vehicle has also been donated in the club’s name. This recognition represented a sincere “Thank you!” from the Central Texas community for an amazing display of selfless service from the entire group at SCORE Austin.
The RecognizeGood Lighthouse Award recognizes the selfless community efforts and philanthropy of Austin-area service clubs through length, magnitude or impact of service – by highlighting “special” organizations and telling their stories, we believe that others will be inspired to make our community a better place. Award nominees may be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org, and are voted on by a selection committee according to the following criteria:
- Length of Service
- Magnitude of Service
- Special One-Time Event
